Toxoplasma IgG/IgM Test
Toxoplasmosis is a very common infection caused by the obligate intracellular protozoan parasite Toxoplasma gondii. The mean source of infection is direct contact with cat faces or from eating undercooked meats. Toxoplasmosis is not passed from person-to-person, except in instances of congenital transmission, blood transfusion and organ transplantation.Toxoplasmosis generally presents with mild symptoms in immunocompetent individuals. However, acute toxoplasmosis in pregnant women can result in miscarriage, poor growth, early delivery or stillbirth.
Toxoplasma IgG/IgM is a solid phase immunochromatographic assay for the rapid, qualitative and differentialdetection of IgG and IgM antibodies to Toxoplasma gondii in human serum or plasma.
