The lactoferrin test is a rapid chromatographic, non-invasive, immunoassay for the qualitative detection of human lactoferrin in human stool samples for the indication of possible intestinal inflammation in inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). It is used, for patients with inflammatory (invasive bacterial infection, IBD), and in patients with non-inflammatory (viral, toxigenic, etc.) to determine gastrointestinal disease. The membrane is coated in the test region T (result line) with antibodies against human lactoferrin.
