The FOB plus is a visual, immuno-chromatographic rapid test for the qualitative detection of human haemoglobin in stool samples. The test is intended only for professional in vitro diagnostic use. The test was designed to indicate diseases in the colonic area such as cancer in the colon area and larger haemorroids. Colon cancer is one of the most commonly diagnosed cancers and a leading cause of cancer deaths. By testing for occult blood in the stool, cancer can be detected early and thus reduce the mortality rate.
